Best of 2017 Makeup

Here we go! The best makeup/beauty products I have tried this past year that I absolutely love and keep going back for more…

Me with zero makeup on, which is how it is a lot of the time, but I am having fun none the less! You don’t need these products, but if you are interested in a certain category, and you trust people that like to take snowman pics when I am pretty sure this Day was like 70 degrees keep reading…

Primer/Base

The One I Have Used Forever

I continued to use a tried and true favorite, Porefessional By Benefit. It is an ultra pore filling product. It is also smoothing on the skin due to the high amount of silicon in it. It gets the job done when I feel like my nose is moon crater status. Do I use everyday? No, just when I feel like I need extra help in my oily t-zone. You can literally get this stuff anywhere that sells Benefit Cosmetics in a variety of sizes and prices. Well worth checking out.

New to Me and I was Obsessed

Heimish Artless Glow Base

This was introduced to me by my sister. She read about it from another skincare blogger and had to try it. It is from Korean brand Heimish and it is 19.99 from Amazon. Unfortunately it didn’t work out for her skin type, but for my dry/combo skin type it worked beautifully. It is a primer! It is a subtle glow highlighter! And it has SPF of 50. I use it literally everyday, I am simply obsessed.

Foundations

The Everyday Foundation

IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better in Light

You need to try this. It is like skincare, but gives you coverage, and it has 50 SPF. I guess I don’t mess with products that are less than 50 SPF. I am in the minority here, but I don’t like the smell. It’s like a weird fake lemon. I also don’t have a perfect shade color, because the shade Fair is code for gray skin, and light is a little dark for me. I make it work, because it that’s good. The slightly off color and smell don’t bother me because it makes my face look awesome. They have added a few more shades than the original launch, but it is SUCH a good product that they should make more shades, this way everyone can experience the magic. I have also used it for events and the SPF doesn’t flashback. The price I believe is 38 or 39 USD.

The Going Out Foundation

L’Oreal Infallible Pro Glow Foundation

I love this Foundation! The like seven times this year that I had something special or wanted to look nice, I used this in the lightest shade which I believe is 201 Classic Ivory. It just makes your skin look glowy and even without being heavy or cakey at all. I don’t like matte foundations since everyone at my work place have asked me how much younger is El Hubs than me…what?! We are the EXACT SAME age, anyways I want my skin to glow 24/7 and this helps. You can find at literally every drugstore but Bed, Bath, and Beyond and Target sell it the cheapest at I believe under 8 USD.

Concealers

The Old Favorite Reimagined

NARS Soft Matte Complete Concealer

I use concealer everyday. It is the only makeup product that I put on every morning no matter what. What can I say? NARS makes bomb concealers that work for me so well. This is more matte than my favorite of all time, the Radiant Creamy Concealer, which makes it easy to spot conceal and hides my horrible zombie eyes really well. I know, I know I just said that I like glowy skin, except under my eye bags. I want that to be matte. At first I didn’t LOVE this concealer but than I saw a tutorial were someone dipped their beauty blender into the pot to collect product and than blend. Game changer, apply with a sponge for best results. My shade is Vanilla because I am ghostly white. It costs 30 USD, and you can get it from Nars.com, Sephora.com, and also Nordstrom.com

The Cheap One that Covers like Whoa!

ColorPop No Filter Concealer

I just discovered this at maybe the end of the year and I love it. I know everyone loses their shit over the Tarte Shape Tape, but it is a pain in the butt to work with. It is also super drying on my under eyes, I wear it, but it is not my Go To. This formula is very similar in that it is extremely high coverage, but to me it’s not as thick. It is also 6 dollars! That’s right it is cheaper than most Maybelline concealers and gives you WOW more coverage. Just don’t use too much or it can cake or ball up, a little goes a long way. You can order yours at ColorPop.com and mine is in the lightest shade, Fair 05, because duh I’m pasty.

Eyebrows and Mascara

The Only Eyebrow Product I have used for a good 4-5 months

L’Oreal Brow Stylist Shape and Fill

I don’t know why I bought this, but I was like YOLO Alli and buy a triangular shape brow pencil and see what happens. Plus it was only 9.99 from Target, so not a lot to lose. I love this thing and use it everyday. It fills in my brows, shapes them nicely, and it’s almost impossible to over do. I have tried repeatedly to keep filling them in to see where that scary caterpillar brows threshold appears, but they haven’t yet. Weird I know.

The Best Mascara for my Lashes Ever, End of Discussion

IT Cosmetics Superhero Mascara

Ok here is my lashes tangent so just bare with me. Everyone’s lashes are different, some are straight, short, don’t hold a curl…blah blah. Mascara and foundation are probably the two most subjective makeup items out there. For example, that L’Oreal Lash Paradise that everyone thought was the best thing since slice bread did NOTHING for my lashes. It actually made them look worst than they are, which is insane because I do have nice natural lashes. This one lengthens, creates volume, holds curl, and wont flake on my unless I am actually crying. It is super easy to remove with warm water. I have literally had 11 different people. yes I have kept a weird OCD count in my mind about this, ask where I got my eyelash extensions done when I wear this. PS, I don’t have eyelash extensions. It is 24 USD and you can buy at Ulta, Sephora, and IT Cosmetics.com. Just try it and see what goes down.

Are WE ALMOST THERE Yet?! To the End of this Damn Post that now I realize is going to be split up into three parts! Geez…we are Getting Close

Blushes, Bronzers, Highlighters

The Bronzer I use as Bronzer, Blush, Highlighter, and Eyeshadow.

The texture on this is so finely milled. It is so so goof proof. I use it all the time and everywhere. It just gives your face depth and warmth so dang naturally. I was the second lightest shade which I believe is Capri something or another and I have switched over to Bali Sands, the lightest shade for winter. I panic when I don’t have it, crazy I know. Like when you feel you are missing a 3rd arm when you don’t have your cell phone? I feel very similar to that, if my two year has hid this product under the dog’s bed, which has happened quite often.

One Cheap as Hell Blush and One Expensive as Hell Blush

Cheap one; EssenceSatin Touch Blush in both the shades Satin Coral and Satin Love

Such an amazing, long lasting, beautiful formula for 2.99! Both colors are stunning and the perfect amount of pigment. They both go with every look and would work for a variety of skin tones. Buy Now!, either at Ulta or now Target!

Expensive One Burberry Blush in Dark Earthy

Alli why are you telling me to buy freaking brown blush for 42 dollars? Because it gives you the most beautiful neutral sheen, no matter your skin tone. But for my cool tone sisters out there, or my peeps with Rosacea, this cancels out redness and makes your face look so healthy.

Highlighter that is the best 2nd Year in a Row

Essence Pure Nude Highlighter

Another Essence product that I love! I think it only comes in one shade. Dust once for natural, have you been sweating a bit Glow, or pack on for an intense highlight. It does it all, I have heard it is a dupe for the Laura Mercier Matte Baked Highlighter, but I haven’t tried that product yet!

Ok Originals, this is my first part of my favorite makeup addict stuff from the past year. Part II will be exciting; Eyeshadow, lips, and skincare! Part III is body and hair stuff. Stay tuned and of course as always stay original!

All my love,

Alli G
